Thanksgiving in Lake Norman Offers Something for Everyone

local • Nov 01, 2021

No matter what time of year you visit, Lake Norman provides recreational opportunities for the whole family. The Thanksgiving season represents a beautiful time to visit North Carolina’s largest artificial lake. During your visit, you may ask, “What does the area have to offer? And can I find restaurants near me ?”

Eddies on Lake Norman can help you learn more about the exciting entertainment options in the area. You can learn more about the surroundings by calling us at 704-799-2090.

#1: Take Part in the Lake Norman Turkey Trot

Many people think of Thanksgiving as a time to enjoy an expansive meal featuring turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and plenty of pie. But the Thanksgiving experience goes beyond the dining room table in Lake Norman.

You can get out and stay active by joining the 11th Annual Lake Norman 5k Turkey Trot. Every year, the Mooresville Area Christian Mission hosts an in-person 5k race. This year the race takes place on November 25th with a start time of 8:00 AM.

The Turkey Trot may also offer a virtual option this year! The virtual race allows participants to run when they want and at a course of their choosing. Participants have to upload their results through the RaceJoy app.

Race participants get a T-shirt, early registrants get a swag bag, and the winners receive gift certificates for restaurants nearby along with other businesses.

#2: Enjoy a Night of Live Music

Are you interested in enjoying some music before your run? The Old Town Public House offers live music every Wednesday through Sunday. If you’re still asking, “Where can I find restaurants near me?” The Old Town Public House sells a variety of brews and treats to eat during the performance.

Local live music lets you enjoy everything from solo acts to complete sets. Touring bands even visit the Old Town Public House throughout the year!

#3: Visit the Farmers Market

The Davidson Farmers Market operates every Saturday. The market draws over 35 farmers from all nearby towns. Because it operates year-round, the market generally offers something for everyone and provides a place for lively gatherings, even in the winter months.

Are you looking for a pumpkin for your Thanksgiving feast? You may want to swing by the market the week before Thanksgiving to look over your options. You can speak directly with the farmers who grew the produce, asking them how it was prepared or preserved.

In addition to offering locally grown vegetables and fruit, the market allows you to purchase items like eggs, meat, cheeses, and bread. You can even find some prepared foods that are ready to go. If you find yourself asking, “Where can I get Italian near me?” You can swing by the Farmers Market to see what fresh offerings they have for you.

The market runs from 8 AM to noon every week, so swing by early to make your selections.

#4: Stretch Your Mind With Some Trivia

Ready to test your memory about facts, movies, and famous figures? You can swing by Lost Worlds Brewing to enjoy trivia night on Mondays. Trivia night starts at 7:00 PM and runs until 9:00 PM, giving you plenty of time to test your memory.

You can bring a team of any size to participate in the event. The trivia questions may not include: “Where can I find seafood near me?” Fortunately, we can help you answer that one. You can visit Eddies on Lake Norman to get fresh seafood after your trivia game.

#5: Escape the Stress and Do Some Yoga

If you feel stressed out before the holiday season, you can take some time out of your busy schedule to try out some yoga. Eleven Lakes Brewing offers a yoga class every Wednesday from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. You can escape the kitchen and move through Warrior 1, Downward Dog, and Crane.

The lesson comes with a pint of beer if you feel like you require more relaxation after stretching and bending. All levels of experience are welcome to attend.

You’ll likely work up an appetite in your yoga class. You can satisfy your hunger by visiting an Italian restaurant nearby. Let a restaurant handle the meal before Thanksgiving, so you can focus your energy on cooking the next day!

About Eddie’s on Lake Norman

Ann-Margaret Wagner brings her hospitality and restaurant expertise from New York to the shores of Lake Norman with Eddie’s On Lake Norman. Ann-Margaret is the former owner of a successful restaurant in Westchester County, New York, called The Muscoot Tavern, an iconic “Cheers-like” bar and grille. After visiting Lake Norman, she fell in love with the area, saw potential in the restaurant, and decided to make North Carolina her new home with her daughter Lacy.

After purchasing the business, which was previously Vinnie’s Sardine Grille and Raw Bar, she completely renovated the entire space, sold the other restaurant, and moved south. The kitchen is filled with all new appliances, while the bar, dining room, and back patio were all touched up to create a clean, comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Whether North Carolina, New York, or anywhere else, Ann-Margaret’s mission is always to provide the freshest seafood, prime meats, produce, pasta, and bread, every meal.

“I hope you enjoy eating our delicious cooking as much as we love making it for you!” Ann-Margaret
